Katmai Fat Bear Week 2024. Fat bear week brings competitive eating to a whole new level — not to mention a different species. Fat bear week jr., celebrating the healthy diets of katmai’s younger grizzly bear crowd, kicks off on thursday, september 26, running through friday.
This year, fat bear week starts on october 5 and concludes on fat bear tuesday, october 11. We provide funding for katmai national park interpretive and bear monitoring staff, and the equipment necessary to support the explore.org bearcams and “fat bear week”.
